Discover traditional brass band music now!
For many years, we have been offering a valuable educational format for music clubs and youth orchestras in the form of our educational concert “Discovering brass music classics”, which takes place in the run-up to our evening concerts. Participants work intensively with us, the experienced musicians of the LBO, and our artistic director Björn Bus on a wind music classic.
During this one-hour workshop, the clubs gain practical insights into our rehearsal work and the interpretation of the selected classic. In addition to exchanging ideas on an equal footing, we provide new perspectives on musical interpretation in the teaching concert and make a significant contribution to the further development of the participating orchestras. This unique opportunity allows the clubs to refine the sound of their own orchestra and take on new musical challenges.
Traditional classics now in teaching concert format
In addition to the symphonic classics on offer to date, which are stylistically closely linked to our repertoire, we have now expanded the educational concert to focus more on traditional brass music. Marches, polkas and waltzes are an essential part of the repertoire in many music clubs and have a long tradition, especially in Germany.
By adding traditional works, we want to meet the needs of the music associations. This gives the clubs the opportunity to work on the stylistic subtleties and specific challenges of traditional brass music together with us, the LBO musicians, and our conductor Björn Bus.

The LBO’s teaching concert offers music associations an ideal opportunity to gain new impetus for the development of their chosen brass music classics. Through the direct exchange with the musicians of the LBO, participants can gather valuable tips and inspiration. Making music together not only broadens musical horizons, but also promotes cooperation within the orchestra. Many orchestras later successfully integrate the works developed in the teaching concert into their concert programs.
